Art Space & Artist Opportunies

We hope we're somewhere approachable yet exciting - a space where art and artists have a voice, visibility and a chance to experiment.

Puck's Art Manifesto

Be Weird: Brighton already has venues that can show traditional work in a much better way than Puck ever could and so, because we know we'll never be one of these large, white walled galleries, we're going to embrace and champion our unconventional space; we hope the artists who show here will be excited do this too.

Encourage: Nurture and amplify voices from artists who might not always find the right outlet for their practice here in Brighton.

Take Risks: Empower artists to experiment with the work they show here and the way they show it, which we feel is a type of accessible art space generally lacking in Brighton (shout out to Gallery Lock In).

Think Holistically: We believe that art takes many forms and we think of the whole of Puck is a living, breathing art space. We're absolutely not a shop with pretty pictures to brighten our background walls!

Be Approachable: We know it can be intimidating starting a conversation with someone new or visiting a place you don't know. And when art's involved - when your art's involved - it can be terrifying. We will never make every artist feel anything but valued.

Respect: We will always be respectful towards you and your art and we expect the same in return.

Be Inclusive: We will foster and promote an inclusive environment for art, artists and art lovers (and the art-curious!).

Honesty: We will always be authentic and transparent, and we want everyone to feel comfortable enough to reciprocate this. We don't want money to be a barrier to participation in the arts, but we also have to generate enough for Puck to be sustainable.

Be Open: We know we won't always get it right, but we want to - we will listen and learn, acknowledging our limitations to do better.

Collaboration: We're excited to work with artists. Vital things happen together.

We'll regularly run open calls to host art shows, workshops and residencies, so follow us on Instagram and keep on eye on this page to be kept in the loop.
